Connection

Connection is a project involving nine-month mobility (from November 2018 to August 2019) in Palermo. 4 young people between 18 and 30 years old are involved in the project (2 for each partner organisation).

Connection’s general objective is to reduce the levels of school dropout in Europe, improving literacy and strengthening early childhood education and care processes.

The young participants thus have the opportunity to live an important experience of personal and professional growth. The volunteers experience a socio-educational path that will stimulate their reflection on the phenomena of exclusion and marginalization that involve Borgo Vecchio and Ballarò neighborhoods of Palermo, areas at risk of social exclusion and where, as a non-profit organisation, we manage a space against school dropout, we collaborate with a center against gender violence and we cooperate with an inter-ethnic playroom.

At these centres, volunteers are actively involved in the implementation of numerous activities, including:

  • assisted study and creative, expressive and sporting workshops with adolescents;
  • city trips, out-of-town excursions for children and families;
  • mother/child expressive-creative workshops aimed at strengthening parenting skills;
  • support activities for migrant and native families who are unable to access public services aimed at children.
